Section Property Calculator

Work out the geometric properties of a custom symmetric I/H section from its raw dimensions - Area, moment of inertia, elastic and plastic section modulus, and radius of gyration. Useful for a built-up or non-standard section, or for sanity-checking a catalogued W-shape's published values. Assumes sharp (unfilleted) corners, per typical preliminary practice.

A note on S and Z: this tool uses the AISC convention - Sx/Sy are the ELASTIC section modulus, and Zx/Zy are the PLASTIC section modulus. If you're used to UK/British steel tables, note that this is the opposite letter assignment (UK tables use Z for elastic and S for plastic) - every value below is labelled explicitly so there's no ambiguity either way.
D, B, t, and T follow the same labelling as a standard W-shape drawing (overall depth, overall flange width, web thickness, flange thickness).
